Some of the improvements we made earlier this year at the Shack really helped us to enjoy our weekend there with our friends and our pups. We fixed up the dock and the deck and got a brand new bed. Plus, because it's late in the season, we could take the dogs out on the beach. All over, a great time with great friends!
Oh, yeah, and we took our dog out on our kayak for the first time! This weekend was a big one. Thanks to a lot of friends, we have some new furniture – a few chairs, a desk, a bed frame, a brand new mattress for the master bedroom... And, thanks to an amazing fiancé and more help from a friend, we have a new deck to enjoy looking out over the beautiful backyard and the canal. The last thanks goes to Morning Buns Bake Shop, because we fueled our weekend of hard work getting the Shack in shape with one of their infamous cinnamon buns!
Whether you want to barbecue or grill, you can now do it at the Shaffe Shack. We bought a grill to and put it out back, because who wouldn't want to grill out overlooking the canal? And everything tastes better hot off the grill. Curious as to what we tested it out first with? Here's a hint. It rhymes with bondon zoil and lucchini! Want to get a better feel for the Shaffe Shack? With our new virtual tour, you can see multiple view of each room, both floors, inside and out! And remember, we’re constantly making upgrades to make your time at the Shack even more enjoyable.
Last weekend, the Shaffe Shack got a little trendier. While catching up with girl friends on a weekend getaway to the Shack, I took all of the traditional beach art off the walks, and began putting up modern prints, photos and ads of beaches I’ve visited and even lived. Take a look at see if you know any.
Why wait? Dates are filling up fast, but I’m happy to share insider info with you all on what’s still available. We can book as early as April, and we have some prime dates throughout May and June with Memorial Day being among them. The first two weeks of July — including July 4th — are still available. And then we have August 11-18 open. Don’t forget that September and October are still lovely at the beach and there are open dates in there too. (I was still kayaking and swimming late October last year!) Pricing ranges from $700-1500/week. If interested, just give us a shout at [email protected]. Hope to be hearing from you.
Man, did I get lucky! We barely have some fall weather, and, just when I think it's actually going to start getting cold, the forecast is calling for it to be above 70 again this weekend. My first year owning the Shaffe Shack, and I couldn't be happier with how long we've gotten to enjoy the beach, the canal and the huge backyard. Consider joining me in taking advantage of it one of these upcoming weeks?
I dream of living somewhere it's appropriate to wear your bathing suit under your clothes all day everyday, and living in D.C. I don't think that would go over that well. As I've made friends over the years, I've found most of them to have the same desire to find a place to escape the city and the stress. That is why, when I decided to buy the Shaffe Shack, I was excited about more than using it myself and making some vacation rental income. That is why I was thrilled that a friend joined me there last weekend and two friends stayed there the past few days to relax. And that is why I hope you have a chance to find the same peace and relaxation there that I do.
